A book from the famous series "The Life of Remarkable People" about Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninov, an outstanding musician of the twentieth century, a great composer, a brilliant pianist, a thoughtful conductor. "Itinerant musician" - this is how Sergei Rachmaninov repeated from his youth. Homeless childhood, unsettled life, wandering from house to house: Zverev, Satins, temporary shelter with friends, rooms for rent. The same wanderings and inside personal life. In a foreign land, he seemed to prophesy a familiar career to himself - he became a wanderer, a wandering musician who brought with him Russian melos and Russian soul, without which he could not compose. The fate of the fatherland could not but touch his "life abroad". Helping Russians around the world, sending to those in need, donations for defense and the Red Army - all the benefits of the musician cannot be enumerated. But most importantly, Rachmaninoff's music supported human souls. Combining them in times of trouble and victory, the author of the book was able to succinctly and expressively recreate the image of a musician and a Man with a capital letter.
