Description

This is a rare antique pair of Colmont Fe Paris enameled opera glasses made in France especially made for sale at the famous Palais Royal Habana, which was the leading Jewelry store in Havana, Cuba, until the revolution in 1958.  They are considered to be "double signed" on the mother of pearl eyepieces: our research shows that whereas similar, but not as fine specimens have "Colmont Fe Paris" on
both
eyepieces, these have "Colmont Fe Paris" on only
one
eyepiece and "Palais Royal Habana" engraved on the other one.  (Similar valuable antiques, such as Patek Philippe watches, can be found for sale that are "double signed" with both the Patek Phillippe and the Palais Royal Habana name on them.)
We do not see any chips or scratches in the enamel, but throughout their lifetime thay have been used, as indicated by a small "ding" on the handle.
Please look at the photographs carefully, and if you have any questions, or would like additional closeup photos, please do not hesitate to ask.  Approximate dimensions:  From the handle end to the swivel: 5 1/2 inches; The height of the barrels when closed: 2 1/2 inches; At the widest point (the bottom of the large end of the barrels): 4";  The top, from edge to edge of the mother of pearl lens frames: 3 1/2 inches;  The large lens diameters: 1 inch; The small lenses: 1/2".
These opera glasses are from the personal collection of a relative who owned an antique store in Miami Beach, and have always been kept in a smoke free environment.
