This air pump model has a unique design. It is built with a dark stingray-like frame and has a suction cup on the back. The function of this suction cup is to help keep the air pump safely attached to your tank. In addition to having this fascinating design, it is also one of the quietest air pumps on the market.
It is built with special material to achieve this. Unlike conventional electromagnetic air pumps, this model utilizes a new technology that uses a piezoelectric ceramic plate to create wind current that decreases the noises made.
This air pump model is highly energy-efficient, with a power utilization of just 1.5W. It gives an airflow rate of about 24L/h and can be used for tanks up to 40 gallons.
That makes this air pump perfect to use in aquariums of small to medium size. This air pump is very easy to install so you don’t need to worry that it will be a tedious process.

SO SO SO SO SO SO SO QUIET!!! THANK YOU!!!

AMAZINGLY QUIET!!!!! I have tried a few different cheaper air pumps and finally decided to stop being cheap and try and this one out as it seemed a bit different than the rest. Wow, so happy I did that. I have my tank sitting 3 feet from where I sleep, so I needed something as quiet as possible. The other ones were ridiculous ("whisper quiet" my a*s lol), easily 10x louder than this one. Plus, the fact that it can be suctioned onto the tank also saved me a lot of hassle as I did not really have a good place to put the other ones and this makes my setup look much cleaner (in the pic, the pump is positioned on the outside back of my 20 gallon high tank, just above the powerhead fan and to the left of the heater).
Only Con: Does not come with a check valve and you really do need to buy one for this because if you are using it as it is designed and are sticking it onto your tank or onto the surface your tank is sitting on, it will be positioned below the water line which means it may eventually start to back-siphon.

This unit is truly dead silent. It is a wonder.

This unit really is 100% quiet. With no tubing attached, you can hear the air being pushed out. Once you connect air tubing to it, you don't hear a thing. Not even a whisper.
As others have stated, this pump is not as strong as traditional pumps. I tested the unit with multiple air stones and it really does seem optimal to use the air stone that ships with the unit. When you do, you easily see a good volume of super fine bubbles. I used it to replace a Fluval air pump that was making more noise than my new refrigerator. It was driving me nuts. I think the diaphragm was also getting dried out because there was a terrible buzzing that would occur periodically. Startling if you're unaccustomed to the noise.
So, I would like to note that I also bought a Tetra 77849 Whisper Air Pump along with this unit. I was worried the air volume might be a problem. Well, the Tetra Whisper is certainly quieter than the Fluval. No doubt about it. But there is simply no comparing it to the MyLivell air pump. The trade off for silent air pump is the air volume.
Also, because I would like a little more surface agitation in my tank, I will be ordering a second pump as soon as I complete this review. This first one I bought I placed in a decorative aquarium "rock structure" fixture. The nature of the fixture prevents the fine bubble mist from going up all at once as collects bubbles to a point where it overflows and bloops upwards. There are still regular medium/ fine bubbles, but the volume is quite different than with the air stone just out in the open.
Update:
Hi,
I purchased my second unit to get the volume of air I wanted. I connected both to a T which then feeds into a check valve which then feeds to manifold which feeds into the ornamental rock I have that releases the bubbles. I have the surface agitation I need and almost no sound to go with it.
Love this thing.
