Pollak executed a number of prints of dancers; he worked in Vienna, Paris and New York. Johansson was a Swedish dancer and teacher who "toured Europe from 1918 to 1925 as a solo dancer ... She developed a personal technique and style far from the expressionism epitomized by Mary Wigman. Her dances were light, witty, humorous, often using character and ballroom steps ..." She came to the United States in 1926 as a performer and choreographer, working at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York and at the Denishawn school, dancing with the Adolph Bolm Company, etc. "Her training method, which included special floor exercises, was immediately accepted as revolutionary and inspired Martha Graham and others." International Encyclopedia of Dance Vol. 3, p. 619.
