    HAND WRITTEN IN RUSSIAN BY EMIL GILELS ON THE PAPER OUTSIDE THE ENVELOPE.
    Included is 10/14/1985 newspaper obituary and playbill (with crease) from his recital Monday, October 5, 1970 at Place des Arts, Montreal. (year not printed).
    Also included is 96 page RUSSIAN "MUSIC JOURNAL" ISSUE 11: 1940. (6-1/2" x 10")
    The cover has Stalin's portrait on cover as well as other portraits including Lenin, Oistrakh. Journal has many music examples.

    "Brought along to play at the Potsdam Conference from the following year, Gilels later recounted a tense episode when an impatient Stalin pressed him to identify a Chopin piece from his muddled description and play it to the assembled world leaders (it was the Polonaise "Militaire" Op 40 No 1).
