JOURNAL DES DEBATS Politiques et Littéraires. MERCREDI 8 FEVRIER 1843. Large folio, 4 pp. Removed from a bound collection, inner edge reinforced with clear adhesive, otherwise fine. From Weimar, the news of a recent Berlioz performance is reported:
"La musique de M. Berlioz fait ici la plus grande sensation. Tout le monde a été frappé de la hardiesse et de l'originalité des conceptions de ce grand artiste. Les morceaux intitulés : Scène à la Campagne et la Marche au supplice ...etc.. Ces deux compositions sont tout-à-fait hors de ligne et telles que l'art en voit naître rarement. Après le concert , M. Berlioz a été rappelé par le public et couvert d'applaudissemens. Mme la grande-duchesse a voulu témoigner au compositeur français sa satisfaction , en lui envoyant une belle tabatière d'or."
