    In pencil. On two sheets of light blue paper laid down side-by-side on letterhead with "74 Maple Street, Roxbury" printed in dark blue to right-hand sheet, the whole measuring 161 x 267 mm. Dated April 10th 1908 at upper right by the artist.
    Together with caricatures of the following singers, also in profile, with each drawing identified below the subject:
    - Famed tenor Enrico Caruso (1873-1921)
    - Baritone Otto Goritz (1873-1929)
    - Tenor Alois Burgstaller (1871-1945)
    - Bass-baritone Anton von Rooy (1870-1932)
    Laid down to dark tan mount. Small pinholes to upper corners; several small stains not affecting images. Matted.
    Blass performed the role of Gurnemanz in the first American performance of Wagner's Parsifal in New York; in Tannhauser in the premiere on 25 February 1902; and in the first American production of Paderewski's opera Manru. "His powerful voice of wide range and his dignified bearing and splendid physique were well suited to the heroic bass roles of the Wagnerian operas, and for some years he was the leading Wagnerian basso at the Metropolitan." New York Times obituary, 10 December 1930.
