Part of Joyce Roberts 1999 collection, she described the gown as follows:
Spectre de la Rose is a confection of silk chiffon meringued over carefully selected white satin. The dropped waist bodice is accented with deeply colored (red or purple) silk flowers with pearl centers then finished with a sparkling row of Swarovski crystals down the midriff.
The pearled flowers are echoed on the delicate cocktail hat which can be worn by itself or used to secure the chiffon train which doubles as a billowing scarf. A satin bow anchors the train to the back of the dress.
White opera gloves showcase the evening bag jeweled with pearls and Swarovski crystals handmade in the style of Judith Lieber and shaped as a heart. The fully functional purse hangs from her wrist by s delicate gold chain.
Only the most spectacular necklace would work with the brilliance of the purse so the dress is iced with a dramatic crystal snd amethyst (ruby) necklace woven into a freehand mesh. The final sparkle at her ears is a set of simple crystal studs.
Peeking under the full skirt is a pair of white satin-look shoes with matching flower petals ruched over the vamp and beaded with tiny pearl chevrons.
