Antique Art Deco European 800 Silver & Green Gemstone Retractable Pocket Pencil
This charming piece was made around the 1920s in Central Europe and is a testament to the high level of sophistication of European silversmithing and Art Deco design. The push button features a light green oval gemstone cabochon which beautifully contrasts with the silver.
Ladies would have kept this piece on a silver chain in their purse along with a little notebook. The piece features great proportions and a fine engine turned horizontal line pattern. The retraction mechanism works beautifully.
You just push up the button on the stick which moves the inside pencil guard. Holds a pencil with a diameter of ca. 2/16".
This great piece measures 2" long and weighs 2.4 grams. Stamped "800" on the bale for a common Central European Silver Standard of 80% silver.
